STAEMENT

In a world where lifestyles, values, and expectations are constantly evolving, are traditional skills and craftsmanship becoming obsolete? Perhaps being old isn’t enough. But being new for its own sake is no better. What truly captivates is innovation with depth.

At the Toray Synthetic Textile Cluster, companies and artisans from Hokuriku, one of Japan’s most renowned textile regions, come together to fuse time-honored techniques with the potential of advanced technology.

MESSAGE
FROM THE CHAIRPERSON

Chairperson, Toray Synthetic Textile Cluste Yoshihide Takagi

The Toray Synthetic Textile Cluster started out in 2004 to revitalize Japan’s textile industry. It marked its 20th anniversary in 2024. We are building a unique integrated system for yarn and high-level processing by combining the management and technical capabilities of midstream manufacturers so they can move beyond subcontracting and outsourcing models, paving the way for greater independence.

While continuing to drive global activities, broaden collaboration across the value chain, and deepen and diversify application development, we will step up our efforts to connect the value from our diverse, mature technologies with new customer applications.
We will also create new value by carefully analyzing and understanding market and customer requirements to transform promising development ideas into solutions that align with those needs. By strengthening exit strategies and marketing collaboration, we aim to build a system that aligns product development with customer preferences.

While Japan’s textile industry continues to face adversity, textiles are a growth field worldwide. Now is the time to harness the collective strengths of regional manufacturers and accelerate the development of innovative products and new applications unique to the Toray Synthetic Textile Cluster. It is equally important to promote our activities and broaden our industry’s appeal in a growing international market.

We will continue to help lead Japan’s textile industry into its next chapter by strengthening our efforts under the banner of independence and self-reliance. Together, we can shape the future.

Chairperson, Toray Synthetic Textile Cluster
